Our Visit to Story Land Recap & Ticket GIVEAWAY!

My daughter recently turned four! Before her birthday, we kept throwing around different celebration ideas and party themes. Should we have a cookout in our yard and have a kiddie pool, jumpie house etc? Do we hold off-site at a  type of kiddie playland? All great options… options we’ve done for previous parties.

This year we wanted to do something a little different. Since she had been asking to go on vacation or as she calls it, “Bacation”, we decided to go on a long-weekend getaway to celebrate her birthday. But, where do we go?

We have been told by many that she is a little too young to truly enjoy Disney. We needed to find a fun-filled, spot that was geared to little ones. We decided on Story Land in Glen, New Hampshire. Story Land is a family-friendly park geared for families with kiddos ranging in ages from 2-12.
Last year, we went to another well-known theme park in Pennsylvania but unfortunately had an awful experience. We swore to never go back.

By contrast, our visit to Story Land was truly magical from the moment we got there until we left, seven hours later! I honestly can say that everything from conscientious park attendants, cleanliness to the variety of rides and attractions received a positive check.

We arrived right when the park opened at 9 a.m. Since it was my daughter’s birthday, she was given a special birthday sticker at the entrance desk. Each ride attendant would comment and wish her a Happy Birthday. The Old Lady in the Shoe even gave her extra stickers which made her day!

Speaking of park attendants and characters, they were all very helpful, never rushed us and truly seemed happy to be working there.

As you may have been able to tell by some of my facebook posts, I’m somewhat of a neat freak. I can happily tell you that Story Land met my high expectations and was extremely clean. Another check in the positive column!

Another plus, having a preschooler that seems to have the need to “go potty” every half hour, it was great that there were so many restrooms around the park. We never had to walk very far to get to one.

As mentioned above, we were looking for a park that was age appropriate for our preschooler but also one that my husband and I would enjoy as well. Story Land fit the bill.

We walked around the nursery rhyme themed area, drove the antique cars, rode up in Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach to Cinderella’s castle (the highlight of the day for my princess-loving daughter), rode through the park on the train, swirled in the tea-cups, relaxed on the Swan Boat ride and soared through the air on the flying fish. We also sat under the “big tent” to watch the Story Land circus which was cute and again, fun for all.
Our last stop was to the kiddie water park, the Ocean’s of Fun. It basically was an area with ocean-themed sprinklers. It was a nice area for the little ones to run around and cool off but not get totally soaked. There was no need to change into a bathing suit but I would recommend water-safe shoes like crocs because there are tiny puddles around that you know they will want to jump in.

All in all, Story Land was an absolutely perfect vacation and way to celebrate our little one’s 4th birthday. We were sad to leave and are already planning next year’s visit! I really cannot say enough about it and highly recommend it.

So this being said, thanks to Story Land, we are able to giveaway 3 tickets to one lucky Family Made Simple fan!

  7. We are planning on going to Story Land next month. We too are planning on going for a long weekend. It can get very expensive when you factor everything in. The last time we were at Story Land was back in 2003 with our oldest son when he was 4. We are now planning another trip because our younger son is now four and we want to keep the tradition going. I can't wait to see what improvements and new things are in store this time around!

I just graduated from the nursing program and need to spend some quality family time with my girls and husband (a full time firefighter). 41. My husband and I both grew up in RI, and our families both vacationed in the White Mountains of NH (not together). We both enjoyed visiting Story land, and have brought our own children there as they grew up. The pirate ship on the watch for gators, Dr.Geyser's water ride,Dutch shoes and Flying fish, and fairy tale characters of all kinds. We always make a point of having our picture taken with Humpty Dumpty to make our trip complete. our son just turned seven and still believes in the magic of fairy tales. He has been to Story Land a few years ago and keeps asking when we are going again. This year we are taking him and we will all enjoy the kind, child-centered theme park once again =)

When my children were little we took them every year in the summer, and now we have 3 grandsons, and I would like nothing more than to take my grandsons to Story Land! I think as others have posted, money is tight for everyone now, and family vacations are one of the first things getting crossed off the list..in order to save money. Last year we visited Storyland and my 5 year old absolutely adored it, but was upset because his brother was too young to play with him while he was at the park. THIS YEAR, I promised my older son that we could go back to Storyland and he could show his younger brother just how much fun Storyland was. These tickets would make two little boys very happy and would fulfill my older son's wish to show his little brother the park. What a wonderful blog you have, Storyland really is a wonderful place.

We have family in New Hampshire we have not seen in years and would love to round out a trip north with a visit to this charming theme park. We have never been up that far north and would love the excuse.

  49. How exciting, we would love have the opportunity to head up north and support a local New England buisness. We have never been to Storyland but I used to see advertisements for it when I was little and always wanted to go. Now I have a 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son who love to travel and LOVE theme parks and carnivals. We also have some family in southern New Hampshire that we have not seen in years, our children are around the same age and have never even met. A trip like this would be a great excuse to make the time to get together again. Tips are hard these days between work and kids and money. Even if we don't win I hope we can make it up that way before the kids get too big. Thank you.

  52. STORYLAND is an institution! I grew up going as a child, and now I have 3 small ones of my own, 6months, 3yrs. & 4.5yrs. We tried to go last year, but 1 day into our vacation rental in Lincoln, we got hit by T.S/Hurricane Irene and lost all power and had to pack up and head home to MA.. My children were SO disappointed, and so were my husband & I. No vacation or Storyland :( Every time we see the commercials on t.v., my daughter screams with excitement and says "we'll go there someday mamma, right?". I really want to make her dreams come true and take her this year. I think at 4.5yrs, she'll truly enjoy it!

  87. Story Land is a magical place for me - from 4-14 I went every year then as an adult we have been back many times. I have an advantage of living in Maine so it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive for me.

If I win the tickets, my husband and I will take our 3 1/2 year old nephew!

  90. We love Storyland! We are Fredericton, New Brunswick so we only get the chance to go one a year during our Summer vacation. We took our 2.5yr old daughter and 2mos old son last summer to this place. We had a wonderful time. We are planning on going to Storyland again between the 14th and 21st of July. I would be very grateful for some tickets because we are also bringing along our nephew -- it will be his first time. Thanks for this contest! What a great idea!!

  96. I bring my grand daughters every year. It is an ALL GIRL thing we do every year, my sister also comes with her grand daughter. This year, my daughter married a gentleman with two little girls, so the total of the ALL GIRL vacation will be eight little girls, ages 4-11 and two happy, loving, memory making grandmothers. To win the tickets will surely help us in a huge way...deborah04901@yahoo.com

  97. My son noah is about to turn 3 and I have been laid off and currently waiting tables to help pay bills. I am a single father so its not easy without help from his mother. I have my son half the week and its hard to get out of the house without spending a lot of money.

  98. Haven't been in years. We may only have time for one more trip with the oldest about to outgrow it. Would love to have the youngest experience all the fun that the oldest had. Tickets would be greatly appreciated for this one income family. Thanks! -Sandra
